Yoga Teacher Training Grad: Where are they now: Meet Leslie!

Why did you initially sign up for a Yoga Teacher Training:

I signed up for YTT to be open to the possibility of teaching, and as a means to deepen my practice in an immersive setting. I felt Twist was the place if I was ever going to take the YTT plunge due to the high quality of staff and the YTT schedule which was worker friendly for someone with a FT, M-F job (like me!)

What was the biggest hurdle for you in deciding to sign up for a training?

The biggest hurdle was my self-limiting belief that I had aged out of the opportunity (58 yrs old in 2022)

What was biggest surprise from your yoga teacher training?

I was surprised at just how BIG and ENCOMPASSING the world of yoga is...dipping my toe into the yogic path has allowed me to question and gain a better understanding of the nature of myself and the world around me. Each day more is uncovered. I love this!

What was your favorite part of yoga teacher training?

Yoga asana (poses) was my favorite part of the training. The back to basics, no frills, technical breakdown of the poses I had been doing in my personal practice for years, was explained and demonstrated with the correct body alignment to prevent injury. This allowed me to actually feel the poses and enjoy my practice more deeply.

How has your practice changed?

My practice has changed tremendously since YTT. I have fewer doubts about doing poses correctly and safely. Additionally, YTT allows me to practice (and teach) with more integrity and respect for the yogic traditions.

Where can people find you?

Always being a student at Twist Studio, teaching weekly at Lake Oswego P&R and Tualatin Hills P&R. No current social media.
